Coach Joey was an assistant age group coach for 7 years for Trident Swim Club and was a competitive swimmer for 20 years. In 2019 he took over the head coach position at Chawp Swim Club for an amazing coach, Coach Amy. Joey has coached many great young athletes and helped them reach their goals of J.O.’s, Junior Nationals and Senior Nationals as an assistant swim coach. He is a 2006 graduate of Arizona State University where he earned his BA in Digital Arts and Business Minor. While at ASU Joey was a finalist at the Pac -10 Championships, recorded the 4^th fastest time in ASU’s history in 2006. He also competed in the 2004 & 2008 Olympic Trials.  In Preparation for the 2004 trials in Long Beach, Coach Joey trained with Coach Bob Bowman at North Baltimore Aquatic Club alongside Michael Phelps and Kevin Clements. He trained at the Industry Hills Aquatic Club from 1995-2001 and was a USA Senior National Championship finalist, as well as, Junior National finalist in his specialty the breaststroke.  Coach Joey was also a CIF Champion for Rowland High School in 2001 for the 200 IM, 100 Breaststroke and also contributed to 4 CIF Water Polo Championships. Rowland High School inducted him into the Hall of Fame for Swimming and Water Polo in 2001 and also received a Scholar Athlete Award. From 1988-1994 he swam for Gemini Aquatics were he broke several age group team records. Coach Joey is very excited and driven to push Chawp Swim Club to the next level. Teaching stroke, technique, competitiveness and watching an athlete learn is why he loves coaching.
